Some sort of gawd awful head cold, my nose is full of snot, when I bend over (to feed the cats for instance) I get a sinus pressure pain that would fell a cow, and I feel like shit. And, of course, this has happened on the weekend. I do not know why this happens but it always does, my body (damn conspirator that it is) seems to believe that I am allowed to get sick on a Friday, be sick all weekend and then be well again by Monday.... it never fails, do I ever get sick during the work week? Nope. If I am really going to get really sick it happens on my one week of vacation. To be honest this sucks. On a bright note we had a joyous reunion with my husband's daughter this morning, she is now living in Jacksonville and we met her and and her boyfriend for breakfast. Just hope I didn't pass this crud on to either of them. *sigh*

Okay so sue me, I am missing the Hobbes beast right now, she was such an integral part of my life that there is a huge hole where she once was. This morning Lari was sat on the bathroom sink begging a scritchin, and when I went into the kitchen to make my tea there was Nelson and Alpha both begging for a scritchin.... despite this, despite these three cats filling the void of Hobbes absense I cannot say that they can fill the gap. Gawd I miss that cat.

We had alot of stuff to take care of in court today, and there were two really great judges on the bench. It meant that me and the boss spent most of our day kicking our heels in the lawyers lounge waiting for the cases to go but that for the most part is a fun thing. To begin with it means that I can get eyeball to eyeball with attorneys who I have been trying to contact and have been greeted with voicemail. It is easy to ignore voicemail, it is not so easy to ignore an irate paralegal poking you in the chest over a cup of coffee in the lawyers lounge. It is amazing how much work I can get done over there while I am waiting to take care of my cases (despite the fact that the boss thinks I am just drinking coffee and smoking cigarettes.) This afternoon after the boss had left for the day I took our new assistant over to the courthouse to introduce her to everyone over there so they don't look at her like she is from mars when she goes over there. Luckily everyone was in a jolly mood and being very nice so she didn't get terrified or intimidated (which can be the case when certain judges are over there and everyone is walking on eggshells.) The funny part is almost every division we went into the clerks said "but you have to speak like Dawn to get the good treatment" LITERALLY every division we went into, it was so funny. I introduced her to all the clerks, the Judges that were there, the lawyers that were there, and hopefully eased her transition into the job a little. Unfortunately for me it was a baptism of fire when I took over the criminal stuff, I wandered over there on the first day not knowing a soul, not even knowing how to use the criminal division computers (I knew everything about the civil stuff), hey maybe now I can take a vacation? PS) I know you are reading this Elizabeth.... welcome aboard. | | Posted by truebrit at 8:04 PM - | |

I would like to posit a problem for you. You have an international boxing match where there are two contenders one who has an American Father and a British mother and is therefore considered the champion of the free "west" on the other side you have a champion from the Islamic countries and he is generally considered their champion. The World Boxing body has issued various rules for their match up so that things will be fair. To begin with the American/Brit has to play by the Queensberry rules, no hitting below the belt, no biting, no kicking etc., he is allowed only a pair of boxing gloves, a helmet (if he wishes) and an athletic support. The Islamic guy however is not bound by the Queensberry rules, and not only is is not required to wear gloves but he is allowed to carry a machete and a 9mm pistol. Who do you think will win that particular boxing match? As simplistically stupid as that scenario seems that exact scenario is what is going on today, as we speak, in the war on terror. The Democrats have decided in their utter delusion that it is not "fair" to spy on terrorists using warrantless wiretaps, never mind that the terrorists are calling their cells within the US to concoct yet another 9/11 nooooo that doesn't matter, it matters only that perhaps the intelligence services are ACTUALLY doing their job and monitoring the cellphone calls of KNOWN terrorists outside of the United States calling people inside the United States, as far as the Democrats are concerned this is a no no, you CANNOT wire tap telephone conversations within the United States, regardless of the fact that the call originates outside of the United States. Let me ask you this, do you think, for a pico second, that if the terrorists could wire tap telephone calls inside the United States to find out exactly where the President is going to be at a particular time in order to bomb that location they would not do it? Do you think they would run to their Islamo Fascist version of the courts to ask politely for a warrant to conduct the tap they would do it? Excuse me if I don't hold my breath on that one. So lets hit the next scenario, you have an Islamo Fascist terrorist in custody, you think he might know about the next attack on the US, so you interrogate him. Now this interrogation consists mainly of him sitting on a lazy boy and being asked questions. Democrats are claiming because these Islamo Fascists are being played loud rap music and kept in cold rooms they are being tortured. I am sure that anyone who has ever had their fingernails pulled out with pliers will be rolling on the floor laughing their arses off at the thought that the playing of loud music and being kept in a cold room is now considered torture by our bleeding heart liberals. Oh its okay by the way for Islamo Fascists to keep captive and then behead with a rusty knife some innocent journalist or civilian contractor or a member of the military, that goes by without a blip on the Democractic radar, not a bloody word is said, beheading with a rusty knife is okay, playing loud rap music is torture AM I LIVING ON THE RIGHT PLANET? WHY WHY WHY are we (the Americans and Brits) being held to these impossibly ridiculous standards when it comes to trying to stop people who have one single thought in mind, TO KILL US! The Islamo Fascist terrorists do not give a shit about killing the odd 60 or so civilian muslims in a market in order to perhaps kill or wound one single member of the US or UK military, so WHY WHY is it that when an Iraqi civilian gets a bloody nose bleed there is a military inquiry? WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON HERE? Have we lost our minds here? Has the entire world gone mad? Have the lunatics taken over the asylum? These people want to kill us people, they don't give a shit how, why or when, they just want to kill us... when are the majority of the population going to get a bloody clue? I give up. I just want every single person in the US to remember the horrible sight of those people throwing themselves out of the trade center buildings in order to die a HORRIBLE death of hitting the ground rather than burning to death and TELL ME, TELL ME WITH A STRAIGHT FACE that you do not want the government doing EVERYTHING in its power to stop that happening again. If you think that you can tell me with a straight face that you do not want the government tapping terrorists cell phone calls then there is no bloody hope for us to be honest, we are just seconds away from another attack, and while the US is there playing by the Queensberry rules the terrorists are packing a machete and a 9mm pistol, think about that.
